How we list firms
Who is eligible
A firm is eligible for listing when, according to its own public website:
- it acts for employees in employment-law matters (employer-only firms are not eligible);
- it has an office in, or names as a service area, a city we list;
- the facts we publish about it — name, contact details, practice areas, cities served — are stated on its own site.
Some listings link to the firm's own contact page instead of showing a phone number and address. We do this when the firm's site prints its phone and fax numbers together in a way our checks cannot separate with certainty.
Sources
Each listing shows the firm's own web pages its facts were taken from, and the date they were checked. We don't use review sites, Google Business Profile content, or a firm's position in search results as evidence of anything: ranking well for “employment lawyer” in a city doesn't mean a firm serves that city or acts for employees. We don't bulk-access law-society directories.
Verification
A first AI pass proposes a record from the firm's own website. A second, separate AI pass re-extracts the same facts from those pages without seeing the first pass's conclusions. A listing is published only when every fact matches between the two passes. Approval is given under a delegated AI process; no human reviews each listing before it is published. Listings can therefore contain mistakes — see below for how to report one.
Each listing shows the date it was last verified. Listings older than 180 days are withheld from the directory until they are checked again.
AI-use disclosure
Directory listings are researched by one AI agent and independently re-checked by a second AI agent, and are approved under a delegated AI process. No human reviews each listing before it is published. A listing can contain mistakes. If you see one, please email info@fairnotice.ca.
Ordering
Firms are listed alphabetically by name within each group on every city page. City pages have two groups: firms with an office in the city, and firms that serve the city from an office elsewhere. We publish no ratings or rankings, and we don't order firms by any measure of quality.
No pay-to-list
We do not charge firms to be listed, and we do not charge for placement, position, or any form of featured status.
When a city gets its own page
A city gets a directory page once at least 5 published firms serve it, at least 2 of those firms have an office there, and the city is in our current coverage. A city that doesn't yet meet this bar isn't published — it may still be named as a city a listed firm serves. The directory is not exhaustive: it contains only the firms we have listed so far, not every employment lawyer in a city.
Correcting, removing, or adding a listing
To request a correction, removal, or addition, email info@fairnotice.ca. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
- No request changes a listing automatically.
- A correction is checked against the firm's own website before we change anything.
- A removal request from an email address on the firm's own website domain is honoured once we confirm it by replying to that address.
- A listing's “last verified” date updates when it is checked again.
